Muhammad Sadiq (Punjabi: ਮੁਹੱਮਦਸਦੀਕ, Urdu: محمد صدیق), sometimes spelled as Sadeeq, Saddiq or Siddiq and Mohammad, is a noted Punjabi singer, actor and politician from Punjab, India. He is best known for his duets with singer Ranjit Kaur. He was the Congress party MLA from Bhadaur in Punjab from 2012-17. Sadiq was born in 1942 in a non-practicing Punjabi Muslim family, to father Walayat Ali and mother Parsinni, in the village of Rampur (now Ludhiana district) in British Punjab. According to him he belongs to Doom caste (a Marasi sub-caste). His uncle was a folk singer who inspired him a lot. In 1947, during the riots, his family had a hard time and left the village and settled at Malerkotla.
Ranjit Kaur (Punjabi: ਰਣਜੀਤਕੌਰ; also spelled as Ranjeet Kaur) is a noted Punjabi singer of Indian Punjab. She is known for her duets with Muhammad Sadiq, a noted Punjabi singer and politician. She did many Punjabi films as a playback singer and some as a side-actress.
Didar Sandhu (Punjabi: ਦੀਦਾਰਸੰਧੂ) was a noted Punjabi folk singer and songwriter from Punjab, India. He used to tie a turban on stage. He mostly sung duets with various noted Punjabi singers like Surinder Kaur and Amar Noorie. Didar Sandhu fell ill due to alcohol consumption and was admitted to DMC hospital in Ludhiana 1991 where he died on February 16.
